From PR to the runway almost accidentally, Tom Farrelly Rogers’ story just goes to show that you never know where life will take you. Skin lessons Tom learned early in life have proven invaluable as he enjoys following his path.

This interview is part of our ‘Lessons in Loving Your Skin’ series, where we sit down with friends of Alpha-H to understand what ageing authentically really means to them.

Give us a little insight into YOU; where are you right now, what are you doing, what are you passionate about.

Right now I’m in New York for work and I’m loving it, I love getting to explore new places and different cultures!

Tell us about your earliest memory of looking after your skin?

When I was 21 and working full time I had bad skin and there was a place up the road called Mankind that specialised in facials for men so I started going there which is where I learned a lot about skincare.

Was there a defining moment or product that changed your approach to skincare for good?

I asked my friend Emma (who is a beauty writer and podcaster) what she thought was the best thing for skin was and she said SPF – since then I’ve never left the house without sunscreen on.

If there was one piece of skincare or grooming advice you’d give to your younger self, what would it be?

How has your approach changed to looking after your skin from a bright-eyed teenager?

I think less about acne and much more about hydration and renewal.

What does “ageing authentically” mean to you?

Authenticity changes from person to person, so as long as you’re true to yourself and following your path there’s no such thing as ageing inauthentically.

When you are looking to add a new product to your routine, what changes do you look for in your skin?

I’m impatient so I look for IMMEDIATE results but know that’s not super important. I just want my skin to feel hydrated and look fresh and not tired.

Why is keeping and maintaining hydration in your skin important?

Hydrated skin has better elasticity which makes you look younger / fresher / whatever you wanna call it.

When you think of Hyaluronic Acid, what comes to mind?

HARVEY TWOFACE! Kidding, it’s the acid everyone is talking about, mild enough to wear daily and very hydrating.

Take us through your routines – what Alpha-H products do you reach for or elements of your routine you must follow (i.e. double cleanse with a cream cleanser, serums every second night, etc.)

AM – Vitamin C, Hyaluronic 8 and Essential Skin Perfecting Moisturiser

PM – Vitamin C
